Common Car Window Tinting Questions

What is window tinting? (Carbon and Ceramic Window Tinting)

Ceramic window tinting and carbon window tinting both involve carefully adding a film to the outside of a car’s windows. This is often available in both clear and a privacy tint. When done correctly, adding window tint to your car can enhance and personalise your vehicle while also reducing the cars internal temperature.

Is tinting car windows legal?

Yes, it is but there are some rules. Since 1 August 1994, NSW law has required that newly tinted side and rear windows maintain a VLT (Visible Light Transmission) of at least 35%. However, tinted film is not allowed on the windscreen apart from a tinted or opaque band on the top of the windscreen.

What is the darkest legal tint in NSW?

Current NSW law requires newly tinted side and rear windows to maintain a VLT (Visible Light Transmission) of at least 35%. There are some exceptions for existing car window tints that were applied when the car was manufactured.

Is Ceramic Window Tint better than regular (Carbon) Window Tint?

In short, yes ceramic window tint is better. First, Ceramic Window tinting is more durable than carbon tinting. It is more resistant to scratches and the colour will never fade. Second, It is also much more effective at rejecting energy from the sun – which means it is a fantastic option for Australian summer.

How much does car window tinting cost?

This depends on the quality of window tint and how many windows you choose to get tinted. At Tint Haus, options range from $170 for two windows to a complete solution. View our window tinting packages for more information.
